A Prison Book, or Trap Book, is a fictional type of Linking Book, portrayed in Myst and Riven: The Sequel to Myst, which has been modified to trap people linking using the book in the "void between Ages".

According to these games, Atrus created two of them, a red one and a blue one, and placed them on the shelf of his library, warning his sons, Sirrus and Achenar, to stay far away from them. However, once the brothers managed to trap their mother on Riven and their father in K'veer, the two used the books, unknowingly trapping themselves. Atrus later created another prison book that appeared to link to D'ni, which he later gave to the Stranger before sending them to Riven. On Age 233, the Stranger trapped Atrus's father Gehn in the book.

In reality, however, prison books do not exist, and were created using artistic license by Cyan for Myst and Riven for the sake of gameplay. The books that Sirrus and Achenar used were linking books leading to the Prison Ages Spire and Haven, respectively, and the Stranger did not encounter the brothers until the events portrayed in Myst IV: Revelation, 18 years later. Furthermore, the Stranger of course would not have been able to trap Gehn in the way portrayed in Riven, and instead would have trapped him through other means.
