Illicit Ages, also simply known as illegal Ages, were, in the context of the D'ni civilization, Ages that were deemed illegal by the Guilds of Writers or Maintainers, such as Ages that broke the oath of the Guild of Writers (eg. bending the rules of writing to make 'unsafe' Ages). From 4305 DE (3352 BCE) onwards, as per a law passed by King Loshemanesh, the creation or trading of illicit Ages was punishable by permanent confinement on a solitary Prison Age.
